Summary:
The Food Safety Sanitation Manager is responsible for managing, directing and monitoring all food safety, and sanitation programs. This position will create and implement internal Food Safety & Sanitation audits, manage and maintain the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and ensure that it s following the guidelines within this document.

The Food Safety Sanitation Manager must possess educational background and technical aptitude as it relates to food plant sanitation programs, chemical handling and food safety programs. Knowledge of food and environmental microbiological testing as well as preventative measures including sanitary design and automated sanitation and efficiency is required. This position indirectly manages one Sanitation Supervisor, who report directly to Sanitation Manager and oversees work activity for all Food Safety Sanitation personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the food safety operation of the plant, ensuring that sanitary programs and associated documentation are consistently executed in the facilities.
In cooperation with Plant Managers and Sanitation teams, structure the plant s Food Safety & Sanitation programs so that the plant is inspection ready every day.
Participates in microbiological investigations and fosters a continuous improvement culture as it pertains to sanitary systems in the facility.
Develop and enforce plant Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPS), maintain SQF Policies and procedures and the Sanitation Procedure Manual. Ensure practices and protocols are up to date and adhere to all current regulatory guidance as well as company requirements and standards.
Provides oversight and documents corrective action planning and recommendations to remediate gaps and deficiencies noted on SQF with regular updates to leadership teams.
Ensures all Plant Sanitation are trained to follow the practices and protocols set forth in the Plant Sanitation Program.
Interact with QA, Maintenance, Warehouse, Distribution and Production personnel to meet company's requirements and specifications.
Work with Quality to ensure lines are cleaned for Environmental Monitoring.
Direct and coordinate all sanitation activities including scheduling, equipment ATP testing, data interpretation and corrective action as needed.

Education and/or Experience:
5+ years in a food manufacturing environment
Completed Food Safety training
Knowledge on GMP's requirements
Knowledge of proper chemical storage use and handling
Sanitation inspections and audits
FDA, USDA and County health regulations
Technical degree a plus
HACCP training
Equipment operational knowledge
Employee OSHA safety regulations


Skills and abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little or no supervision
Ability to do multiple tasks simultaneously
Bi-lingual (Spanish-English)
Ability to work in a team environment
Basic computer skills in Excel, Word and other as required
Strong organizational and mechanical skills
