Construction Estimator (Wood Framing) – Direct Hire – Phoenix, AZ


Compensation Range - $60,000 to $100,000 Annually 

Full Relocation Available

  • Successful candidates will have experience in preparing accurate estimates for projects by gathering and researching all information necessary to accurately identify cost factors such as production time, materials, and labor expenses relevant to type III and type V multi-family wood framing construction.

  • Necessary experience of at least 5 to 10 years wood-framing construction, production, and estimating.

  • Must be able to accurately read blueprints and technical documents as necessary to prepare estimates while collaborating with clients, supplies, and other departments to develop competitive and cost-effective predictions.

  • Estimators will be able to verify conformance to all bid documents, read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings, understand/manipulate (read, add, and subtract) all units of measure, design and forecast site logistics, secure bids/quotes from suppliers, develop bid submission packages, and account for all other factors that could affect bid profitability/success.

  • Estimator will work closely with Senior Regional Estimator, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, in addition to other departments as necessary, to develop and analyze estimation and bids for a variety of projects.

Required Qualifications :

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Management to create/develop a successful bid/estimating department and assist in the development of standard procedures and processes.

  • Read/interpret construction blueprints as well as drawings.

  • Advanced understanding of scheduling, budgeting, forecasting and timetables with an ability to adapt to all changes seamlessly.

  • All while communicating changes and strategy to all other levels/departments.

  • Listen and effectively communicate departmental, as well as company, goals and objectives.

  • Ability to make informed and educated decisions without constant supervision to coordinate and manage multiple projects, requests, and deadlines simultaneously. 

  • Develop/Create bid packages, assist with submitting estimates, aid in material takeoffs, and complete all other documentation as necessary.

  • Design/Develop and budget various logistics plans for each project as they apply. I.E. material handling, hoisting plans, shipping/receiving, storage, off-site/prefab yards, site access, and security.

  • Collaborate with Ops and Leadership during Post-Award transitions, and all other tasks necessary in relaying estimation information to the Construction Operations teams ensuring project success.

  • Participate in Post-Production meetings to discuss “lessons learned” on each project (i.e. what went right, what could be done better). Provide insight and knowledge to aid in the creation and development of better bid practices and company success.

  • Visit job sites/attend job walks/bid meetings/client relation functions/any other activities outside of office to gather information on estimates / bids, clients, and projects as necessary.

  • Communicate and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure best price, quality, and integrity.

  • Handles conducting inspections and reviews of all finished bids/estimates to ensure completion and competitiveness.

  • Makes estimate calculations to determine quantities of time, money, and labor needed to be competitive and successful, while factoring and accounting for waste, delays, weather, available man-power, jurisdictional wage/hours/tax laws, and other factors that affect profitability.

  • Performs all mathematical calculations necessary to ascertain estimation for area, width, height, length, angle, and board footage.

  • Ideally will have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Sapphire Build Suite, CADD and REVIT (or equivalent design management software).

  • Solid understanding of technology, its uses, and applications.

  • Give/provides leadership and direction within the department, and externally to other departments, to ensure successful estimation.

  • Determine and request assistance, training, and any other tools/assistance when necessary for departmental and personal success.

  • Give extensive feedback to Leadership regarding departmental strengths and weaknesses, and provide educated and proactive ideas to grow and develop the department.
